Don't Fight the Air — The Film

Engineered
for Speed.

The question nobody was asking. Eighteen months ago, a small group of friends began asking a question: why hasn't the obsession with performance extended to jockey garments — specifically the billowing racing silks that behave like parachutes at speed?

The tradition of racing silks is deeply respected, yet within that tradition lies a clear, untapped performance opportunity.

Chapter 01 — The cost of drag

A silk that flaps is a silk that brakes.

At 65km/h, traditional racing silk catches the wind like a sail. It billows, it cracks, it drags — a parachute on the back of a thoroughbred bred for speed. The faster the horse, the harder the fabric fights back.

Races are often decided by a nostril, a stride. Bank the AeroSilks advantage.

Sail

Loose silk inflates and lifts, adding frontal area exactly where you want none.

Snap

Turbulent flapping bleeds energy on every stride down the straight.

Drag

Pressure builds behind the rider — an invisible hand pulling back.

Lengths

All of it adds up to the one thing you can't afford to give away.

Chapter 02 — The science

Engineered to cut the air, not fight it.

AeroSilks understands tradition, but that shouldn't handicap results. It's a performance textile — a tightly governed weave that stays taut to the body, refuses to balloon, and lets the airflow stay attached where ordinary silk lets it tear away.

Laminar by design

A low-profile dimpled surface keeps airflow smooth and attached, shrinking the turbulent wake behind the jockey.

Holds its line

Engineered tension stops the billow before it starts — the silk moves with horse and jockey, never against them.

Light, breathable, fast

Featherweight and cool over the body, so the only thing the rider feels is the line and the lead.

Proven in the wind tunnel

In 2025 AeroSilks submitted their innovative silks solution to SASI in Adelaide (Australian Centre for Sports Aerodynamics) for wind-tunnel testing at horse-racing speeds. Contrasted against traditional racing silks, the reduction in CdA delivered by AeroSilks translated to meaningful gains in time and metres covered.

Proven on the track

Optimised with jockeys and approved by racing stewards, AeroSilks has already delivered Stakes wins and more than its fair share of owners to the winning circle.
